St. Cecilia School is seeking a dependable and friendly Hot Lunch Worker to join our team. This part-time position follows the school calendar, offering daytime hours with weekends, holidays and summers off.
Position Summary The Hot Lunch Worker supports our school's mission by helping provide nutritious meals in a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled environment. Responsibilities include preparing and serving lunches and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining area. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, enjoys working with children, and supports the mission of Catholic education.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Food service experience preferred, but not required
Ability to read, write and follow simple instructions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement
Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to learn
Enthusiastic supporter of the Catholic faith and Catholic education
Responsibilities
Foster and support the Catholic mission of the school
Assist with preparing and serving lunches to students and staff
Operate the computerized point-of-sale system
Clean and sanitize the kitchen, dishwashing area, equipment and cafeteria
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
Complete required trainings as required by the State of Iowa, the Archdiocese, and the local school
Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk frequently, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The position involves bending, reaching, and working around kitchen equipment, with occasional exposure to hot temperatures and slippery surfaces.
